CHILE'S GOVT CONFIRMS ANTIBIOTICS "ABUSE" IN SALMON INDUSTRY A recently declassified government document confirms what critics of Chile’s farmed salmon industry have suspected for years: that producers here use far more antibiotics than their counterparts in Norway.

E. PACIFIC BASIN Development is Possible Later This Week
Last Update: 28-JUL-2009 08:42am EDT
Two areas of disturbed weather well away from land are being watched for future development.
Tropical waves are along 108 west, south of 13 north, along 127 south of 17 north and along 135 west. The waves are moving west at about 6 degrees longitude per day. The first two waves have experienced a large growth in clouds and thunderstorms over the past 24 hours. Shear is weakening over the tropical wave along 108 west and 127 west. If these trends continue and a lower-level feature can organize under either or both systems, then tropical development could take place in either or both systems later this week. Current wind flow suggests both systems will move away from any land mass during the next several days.
