On Tuesday, at 4:45 p.m., Alaska State Troopers in Bethel flew to Newtok after they were notified of a physical altercation involving a knife.  Investigation revealed that Tom John (age 52 of Bethel) became intoxicated from drinking homebrew alcohol which he had manufactured on his property and then stabbed a family member with a knife during an altercation. Investigation further revealed that Bernice John had imported alcohol into Newtok on 5-11-2010.
